McHold It!

LOS ANGELES – A law that would bar new fast-food restaurants from opening in south Los Angeles for at least one year sailed through the Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday.

Surprising news, that. It appears they're trying to stop the obesity epidemic by banning fast food restaurants in Los Angeles, in the poor section of town, where people can't even afford to eat out. I am flabbergasted that something actually good and healthy for people would start in LA, the home of rational thought.

I am even more surprised that it's the mayor who came up with the moratorium on fats food.
That must have been some city council meeting...
"Excuse me mayor, can I get fries with that?"
"So whaddya say we supersize our salaries? All in favor?"

This strikes me as being a bit, well, prejudiced. I don't see them banning any fast food eateries in Beverly Hills. Obviously, it's still fine for folks with money to be obese, but the poor? No way...they've gotta be slimmed down. It's bad enough the elite have to look at how they're dressed; letting them continue to gain weight would just add to the trauma. Fortunately for the entertainment industry, the city leaders decided it's still okay to be phat.
